The Latino Cultural Arts Center’s 2020-2021 programming is funded in part by the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, cultivating arts and leaders for a vibrant community.
The Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC) proudly announces the launch of the first artist training program intended for Latinx artists in the Denver metropolitan area. We will offer a series of capacity-building workshops for a cohort of 10 interdisciplinary and intergenerational artists. Those who participate will not only continue to develop their artistic medium, but also learn other technical skills, including marketing, proposal writing, public speaking, leveraging technology to build wider followings, among others.
“Bonfils-Stanton Foundation is pleased that we are able to provide support to the Latino Cultural Arts Center, one of our important community cultural assets working to build the capacity of Latinx artists and showcase their artistry. In light of the crisis, we felt compelled to accelerate and expand this new initiative with a focus on supporting more of our community’s organizations dedicated to serving communities of color and other historically marginalized populations.” - CEO and President, Gary Steuer
Support from Bonfils-Stanton’s DEI (Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion) Opportunity Grant initiative allows the LCAC to build upon the findings of our Listening Tour, where we learned that local artists perceive us to be different from other organizations because we care about them as professionals and people. With this grant, we will continue building our relationships with artists and help develop a training that will continue to reap rewards well into the future, as the LCAC grooms the next generation of master artists.
The Latino Cultural Arts Center’s Mission
The Latino Cultural Arts Center (LCAC) will strengthen the knowledge of the extensive artistic expressions of Latinos living in the U.S. and globally through education, discussion, exhibition, and preservation of their historical and ongoing contributions.
Our vision of an interdisciplinary center will be realized through weaving the richness and diversity of Latino cultural expression and thereby promoting the artistic and economic vitality in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region.
Bonfils-Stanton Foundation strategically provides grants and fellowships to advance the arts and inspire creative leadership in Denver. Our foundation is richly steeped in Denver’s cultural history, but we are also a contemporary leader in fueling innovation and exploration in our creative economy. Each year we give more than $3 million to arts organizations and nonprofit leaders, because we believe these entities and individuals are critical to building and sustaining a vibrant community.
